UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio --

Auto theft: Cedar Road

At 8:15 p.m. Aug. 24, a Bedford Heights woman, 40, reported that she left running the engine of her car, a 2016 Nissan Maxima, as she went inside the restaurant Sauce the City, 14480 Cedar Road, to pick up her order. While she was in the restaurant, someone drove off in her car, striking another car on South Green Road while leaving the area.

Cleveland police later found the damaged car, unoccupied, in the 17100 block of Miles Road. University Heights police are investigating.

Auto theft: Cedar Road

At 8:20 p.m. Aug. 22, a Euclid man, 29, and Euclid woman, 27, reported that the man’s car was stolen while the two were at the Speedway gas station, 14458 Cedar Road. While the man was inside the gas station convenience store, a male suspect forced the woman out of the car and drove off in the vehicle. The car has not been found.

Fictitious plates: South Green Road

At 11:15 p.m. Aug. 23, an officer stopped a car that was seen weaving between lanes. The driver, a Cleveland man, 37, was subsequently found to be driving with a suspended license and fictitious plate. Police cited the man for these two offenses and for a marked lanes violation.

Theft from auto: Bushnell Road

At 6:15 a.m. Aug. 24, a female resident, 41,reported that someone entered her unlocked car as it was parked in her home’s driveway the previous evening and stole from the center console her wallet. Fraudulent charges on her credit card were made at various locations totaling $546.80.

Auto theft: Hillbrook Road

At 7:15 a.m. Aug. 24, a man, 42, reported that his 2020 Nissan Altima was stolen from his home’s driveway during the previous nighttime hours. The car was unlocked and its key was left inside the vehicle.

Unnecessary noise: Silsby Road

At 10:30 p.m. Aug. 24, police responded to a complaint of loud music emanating from a Silsby Road home. Officers cited a man, 22, for a sound device infraction. The man, however, refused to turn down the volume even though police had asked him to do so multiple times.

Police then additionally charged him with unnecessary noise and resisting arrest.

Criminal damaging: South Taylor Road

At 4:20 a.m. Aug. 26,an officer on patrol saw what appeared to be newly painted graffiti on three business buildings. An investigation was initiated.

Theft: South Green Road

At 3:05 p.m. Aug. 26, loss prevention at Heinen’s, 2180 S. Green Road, reported that a party known to them, a woman, shoplifted $15.60 worth of merchandise and left the store without being apprehended. Police are following up on the matter.

Littering: Warrensville Center Road

Just after midnight Aug. 27, police saw a woman littering. Cited for the offense was a Chagrin Falls resident, 21.

Open container: Warrensville Center Road

At 10:35 p.m. Aug. 27, police cited two John Carroll University students, an Aurora woman, 20, and a New York man, 21, for having open containers of alcohol in public. The woman was also charged with littering.
