LEHI, Utah — Two teens were hospitalized Friday after a car ran a curb and hit both of them, police said.

Officers responded at around 4:30 p.m. to the intersection of 2100 North and 3600 West, where Sgt. Drew Olson said it appeared a grey Chrysler 300 heading eastbound ran the curb at the median crossing and struck the teenage boy and girl.

According to Olson, the impact knocked the two roughly 100 feet forward into a ditch.

“As soon as I heard the crash of hitting the pole, that’s when I knew something had happened,” said Christian Glass, who witnessed the immediate aftermath. “They had flown in the air maybe 10-feet high.”

Glass said he immediately scrambled over to them from a gas station parking lot to see how he could help. When he found the teens injured and unconscious, he ended up calling 911.

“We’re grateful for those who stopped,” Olson said. “There were a lot of those who stopped and administered aid.”

Olson said the female teen was flown to Primary Children’s Hospital, while the male teen was transported by ambulance.

Their conditions were unknown, Olson said Friday evening.

Olson said investigators were looking into whether some sort of impairment played a role in the collision, as well as the possibility of speed or other factors.

Glass said what happened made him want to be more cautious on the roads.

“It could happen to anyone, anywhere,” he said. “It makes you want to be a little more aware when you’re coming up to intersections like this.”
