Matthews Auto expands Upstate with purchase of auto dealer - WBNG-TV

(WBNG) -- Matthews Auto announced Tuesday that it has purchased five Fuccillo Dealerships in Syracuse and Rochester, N.Y.

The purchases expand the Matthew's Auto business into Central New York.

The Syracuse purchases include: Fuccillo Kia and Fuccillo Nissan of Clay, N.Y. and Fuccillo Hyundai in Syracuse. The Rochester purchase includes: Fuccillo Hyundai and Fuccillo Kia of Greece, N.Y.

Matthews says Fuccillo's 300 employees will keep their jobs at their current salaries as they join its 450 current employees. More employees may be hired as the need arises, the dealership says.

President Rob Matthews called the opportunity to purchase the dealerships "unique" in a news release.

“Fuccillo is an impressive operation with a great team who has sold tens of
thousands of vehicles," he said. "Although there is tremendous uncertainty out there due to the pandemic, I have the upmost confidence in our team and our operation to make this a smooth transition for our new customers and our new employees."

Matthews says he is excited about the future in Upstate, N.Y.

In addition to the employees, over 1,000 vehicles will be added to the Matthews Auto inventory.
