Auto racing: Nelson wins feature, sets record in the process - Pine Journal

Terry Lillo and Keith Niemi rounded out the top five. Nelson set a new track record in the feature with a fast lap of 15.805 seconds that translates to just over an average of 91 mph.

There were 94 cars on hand for an event that at one time looked doubtful with rain earlier in the week. Racing was fast but at times a battle of attrition as there were plenty of DNFs.

Brandon Copp won in Modifieds and Kevin Burdick won in Super Stocks. Ryan Savoy earned a sweep in Midwest Modifieds, winning both his heat and feature.

Tristan Scheuermann (Pure Stocks) and Casey Fitzpatrick (Hornets) not only captured their first feature wins but their first sweeps.
